React.createRef() updating the DOM in the first render | React-class-component

I have this ref which saves the DOM value.

this.ref = React.createRef();
const current = this.ref.current;

On the first re render, the view gets updated. From second time, only the URL gets updated (which i am doing from the browser) , not the view. current.url gets updated, but current.childNodes (current.childNodes contains the container id of the view to be rendered) does not get updated and hence it renders the old view. (not the one with the updated url)
